Some Jellyfish Are Used As Food
It certainly was news to me that jellyfish are eaten in some cultures. Most jellyfish species are not eaten, only a number of the eight five known species are used as food. The cannonball jellyfish is a kind of jellyfish that’s poison is harmless to people, so this is a favorite among jellyfish eaters. Jellyfish as a food are mostly eaten in Asia, and some southeastern countries.
Danger Of A Jellyfish’s Sting
When swimming in the ocean you may have run into a jellyfish or at least heard stories of being stung by jellyfish. A jellyfish stings a human or other creature when it’s tentacles are touched. The tentacles puncture a humans skin and inject the venom. Some jellyfish are far more dangerous than others. Some people that have been stung do not realize they have been stung because there isn’t much pain. You will notice the pain if you were stung by one of the more poisonous species rather quickly.
A remedy to reduce the pain after being stung is Vinegar. This won’t work for all species of jellyfish, so you should try to seek expert medical care as soon as you can.
Some experts recommend shaving the area of the sting with a razor or using a debit card to reduce the release of more poison. If the jellyfish, or any parts of the jellyfish are still on your skin remove them immediately as they can continue to sting you and inject poison.
